The Idiocy of Politicians is Brimming in India: The MM Mani derogatory speech in Kerala

India might be a country which is described as a boiling pot of cultures. This allows us to witness one of the best art and drama in the country. Though the primetime television serials are lacking in story, the theater drama industry can get a shot in the arm from the politicians of the country. Not long after the Shiv Sena Minister Gaikwad fiasco had ended, than we hear another rant from a political leader from God’s Own Country-Kerala. MM Mani a minister in the Communist Party government in Kerala was in deep trouble when he ridiculed the Ponbolai Orumai group about having illicit relations with men. This did not go down well with the group who called for an indefinite strike asking for the resignation of the minister.

This is not a first for the state of Kerala where politicians have been mincing words to create an effect in the speech. And also if the speeches consist of female bashing and slutting it garners more attention. But this particular minister has been a troublemaker on many occasions. And what is more shocking is that no minister ever tries to apologise to the offended. They stand by what they did and forget that they are living in a democracy. And shockingly this comes from a state whose first government was a Communist government. The Party has fallen to such low standards that there are no leaders who have the stomach to accept their mistakes. They are only available for speeches and rallies but never for governance and justice.

All this and the Munnar situation might leave a permanent black mark on the face of the Communist Party. Considering the demographics of Kerala where majority are females, this will not go down nicely with the female population who is taking notice of all these developments. These are situations which call for the intervention of the Chief Minister of the state; but in this case there is only silence from his end. The lip service given by him is not required; even a scribe can read it out on his behalf. The need of the hour is action that resounds well out of the confines of the Assembly that the Chief Minister is with the people.
Or maybe the CM wants to complete his obligation to MM Mani that he will allow him to continue his term as electricity minister. But does this mean that MM Mani is sitting on some hidden skeletons under him? And to prevent these skeletons from coming out the CM is allowing him to continue. Well, a wise man once said that we must keep our friends close and our enemies closer….

United We Stand, Divided We Fall: The Kapil Sharma Team Split

The year 2017 is an eventful year in every sense. Be it political or television this year shall be remembered in many cases. The television world was shaken by a news, that caught the imagination of people. The Kapil Sharma Show and its team members had a split after news about the show’s lead Kapil Sharma reportedly made a scene in a flight and insulted fellow teammate Sunil Grover. The team split and many members exited the show. The show was left high and dry since the team was missing from the show. The TRP also took a major hit following news that the show might end soon.

Now taking into cognizance that Kapil Sharma’s act was outright shameful and unjustified, it is just dramatic that people who were not linked to the fight are leaving the show as well. Other members of the show other than Sunil Grover took the opportunity to leave the show and make a fuss out of the whole issue. And to make things even more redundant, an occasional tweet from Sunil Grover about American shoe size is just boring. The show was on a peak of popularity when the entire show went south and the weeks following the event has seen a landslide fall in the show’s TRP and popularity.

Not to be critical about the actions of either party, this event showcases the classic human behavior of jumping to an opportunity. Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover are good comedians, but let’s face it; they are good together and alone they are a huge headache. Neither of them puts up a show that is worth watching solo. But together they were a force to reckon. A force which was weighing heavy upon various other comedies shows running on primetime television. This situation might not be to fight it out, but to take a break sit back and introspect as to what went wrong.
Taking a wrong turn might do more than damage the stars and their individual reputations in the industry. Particularly this might do more damage to Sunil Grover whose show was a huge flop. This might not be the perfect time to bury the hatchet but it is obviously not a good time to burn a fire in the house. Also the other stars who abandoned the ship in crisis must understand that to leave a sinking ship might be easy, but sometimes it just takes a small cork to plug the leak and save the ship; because even if you jump out, you are jumping into the big ocean.

The Business of Politicians: Priyanka Gandhi and the Dhingra Panel Report in Haryana Land Scam

The market economy of India is probably the best in the world. Here anything and everything has a price. Be it the loyalty of a person or his plot of agricultural land. But the upper hand is always going to be that of a politician. The Gandhi family has proved it time and again that they are the best in the business of politics and leveraging their influence, people joined to them or even remotely in coalition with them.

Robert Vadra and his companies might have had a major growth during the 10 year period of the UPA government and might be because of efficient people working in the company. But many skeletons coming out of the ground reveal a different business. The Dhingra panel is now onto Priyanka Gandhi and this precipitated a knee-jerk reaction from her who gave a pre-emptive statement that she was never connected to any dealings with Vadra.

Considering she is still an 'Adarsh Indian Bahu' she would obviously try to make a statement that will cover her husband. Another take would be that she is trying to avoid any false allegations by coming out with an explanation herself. But this is just unbelievable that a family and all of its members are combined in any scams that are rocking the nation and have the stomach to stand without a shame. They still put up with their drama and consider the people of the Congress Party and the nation to be fools who will buy anything. This is not a shopping spree that you market your product and the customer is going to buy the best looking package.
And never to forget that she is saying this about her husband that she has no connections with him. This sounds like a standard tantrum for any person who is trying to cover up the obvious. But unfortunately the Congress Party’s leaders refrain from reading between the lines. They are obeying the rules of the family and playing their part in the grand scheme. But is the grand scheme power of India or the wealth of India? Surely this is the question of the hour.

Betrayal runs deep in the blood and spills blood as well: Ambush of soldiers by Naxals in India

India is not the only country where soldiers have been betrayed for utterly no mistake of theirs. The battle of Plassey was the major betrayal that paved the way for colonial domination of India. And after that several betrayals of Indians by fellow Indians made it clear that this is a normal behavior. Maybe it is just human nature and that is why we have safeguard mechanisms in place like the law and order system of the country and moral structures like religions.

But what happened at Sukma was nothing but cold-blooded man-slaughter. The villagers tipped the Naxals of the positions of the CRPF; though the attack was not just to kill the soldiers. The Naxals wanted to loot the contingent of their supplies and radio and weapons. They killed 25 soldiers using their advantageous position and surprise. But the heat is still on as the government is trying to find out the people who did this.

It is said that when to big forces collide it always damages the things that are surrounding them and who are totally not responsible for anything. Here the Naxals might not be wrong in their philosophy but why should their clashes with the government make soldiers scapegoats. And in the aftermath of this incident the villagers will face the ire of the security forces and the government.

But this is not the first incident that has happened over the past many decades. Naxals have always been questioning the existence of a democracy. This was more than just an event. It was a reminder from the Naxals that they will continue their propaganda in any government, be it the NDA or the UPA. And it is time for them to see that this government is different from the UPA and won’t tolerate terrorism, be it on the borders or inside the nation.

Dare not pick a fight with the Godfather of Internet India- Snapchat’s India Remark

Snapchat India Remark Evan SpeigelThe week before the previous saw a drawn battle between Snapchat and the people of India. The row was caused as a result of the comment by the CEO Evan Spiegel who termed India as a poor nation and not worthy to expand into. The comment received the ire of the Indian youth who were primary users of the app and led to an epic number of uninstallations of the app. This and also the low rating on the play store may have been a big blow to the app which had become quite a trend among youngsters.

But the entire fight did explain one clear thing. The Internet and its many technologies which form the backbone of many businesses in the current world are significantly impacted by India. And it has a good reason because the Internet penetration in the country is far better than any other country in the world. Also there is hidden potential in the rural India which has a mere penetration of less than 30% (about 200 million users). Also the Smartphone penetration in rural India is less than 20% which is poised to increase in the coming decades.

India’s youth has an inquisitive nature that prompts them to try out various apps that come out. The Silicon Valley and various other IT hubs in the world are earning profits in the Internet business using this user base that is abundant and immense. In such a case careless remarks made by the core marketing person of the company comes as a massive shock to the world. In the Internet world the news spreads even faster than a wild-fire. Such news could have been the death-spell of a flourishing business. And particularly one expects some maturity in chatter coming from a CEO as compared to a normal employee. In this case apparently the employees were sensible enough to put the limelight on their boss’ words.
The fight was a one-sided affair as the people are the principal stakeholders in a transparent world. Gone are the days of closed-room corporate meetings that were exclusive. The average stakeholder knows more than the owners of the company and is free to choose whom to support and whom not. Well it is better late than never; even now the tables can be turned and the company can choose whether to let a good forest burn due to a careless fire or put out the fire before it turns on them as well.
